Allergy and sensitivities are common conditions in modern society. According to CDC statistics released in 2013, food allergy affects 1 in every 13
children (under 18 years of age) in the U.S and the rate increased approximately 50% between 1997 and 2011. Allergy and sensitivities can be
deadly and also related to more server conditions such as autism spectrum disorders because most of autistic children show some degree of allergy
and sensitivities. Although the cause of these conditions is still unknown, many recent studies have pointed to the malfunction of neuroendocrine
control of the immune functions. This lecture reviews most recent biomedical studies and introduces holistic viewpoint for allergy and sensitivities.
The lecture also discusses integrative approach to these conditions with various natural modalities such as Chinese medicine, homeopathy, allergy
desensitization, nutritional supplementation and dietary changes.
