Daiyi Tang MD (China), MS, Ph.D.
Dr. Daiyi Tang graduated Chengdu University of Chinese medicine with his bachelor’s and master’s degree in China. He also received his Ph.D. in the field of integrated Chinese medicine with Western medicine from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, a well-known Western hospital in China. He received post-doctoral training in the Department of Physiological Sciences of the Eastern Virginia Medical School specializing renal and cardiovascular diseases including diabetes and hypertension.
Dr. Tang has many years of experience in teaching TCM schools in the United States including the schools in New Mexico, New York, Minnesota and Florida. He currently has private practices in Miami area and teaches in both ATOM and Acupuncture and Massage College in Miami. Dr. Tang is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture (international peer-reviewed English journal) and has published many research papers in his field. He specializes in treating chronic diseases of immune systems with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
The human immune system is a complex network of special cells and organs. The abnormally low activity (immune deficiency) or over-activity of the immune system (allergies and autoimmunity) will cause immune system disorders. Immune deficiency diseases, such as AIDS, decrease the body’s ability to fight invaders. Immune system’s overreaction to a non-threatening foreign substance (food and inhaled particles) will cause allergic diseases, such as allergic asthma, eczema. An autoimmune disease occurs when the body’s immune system attacks healthy tissue. Autoimmune diseases include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, thyroid disease, celiac disease, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis and so on. Due to the difficulty and complexity of treating immune disorders, integrated Chinese and western Medicine have been widely used and received much attention as successful therapies in their treatment. This course is composed of two major parts: 1) a general introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the unique organs related to immune disorders; 2) the diagnosis and treatment of some of the major diseases based on certain symptoms in the department of immune system; especially the emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of integrated Chinese and Western Medicine.
